Typical wedding ceremony
The Shrewsbury String Quartet will start playing prelude music about a half hour before your ceremony starts as your guests start arriving. You may choose special selections for the mothers and grandmothers to be seated.
We will play processional music for the bridesmaids and special music for the bride to walk down the aisle. And we can also play special music during the ceremony, for a unity candle lighting ceremony, communion, etc.
As the bride and groom recess from the altar, we will play special music and postlude music as your guests are leaving.

Our musicians will work very closely with you helping you personalize your music. And we will help you choose music that is perfect for you.
If there is music that you want that is not in our repertoire, we will do our best to find it for you. But if it is necessary to purchase sheet music or make a string quartet arrangement from a piano score there may be an additional charge.
Many brides compliment us on the way we sound. And we hear from lot s of brides that they appreciate how easy we are to work with.

Catholic Weddings
There are some quartets that will not perform at a Catholic Mass without an organist, but we have played several hundred wedding Masses and are very familiar with the timing of the music and are very comfortable with or without an organist.

Outdoor Weddings
We want to provide the best possible performance for your event. Outdoor ceremonies create more challenges for musicians. Weather conditions and insects must be considered. Our instruments can be damaged by extreme temperatures, rain, or direct sunlight.
We enjoy playing outside under many conditions, however what is acceptable for a guest for comfort is more difficult for musicians to deal with when trying to perform our best for your event.
So please be considerate and provide a safe, comfortable location for us to perform.
Funerals and Memorials
The Shrewsbury String Quartet adds expressive and touching music to many funerals and memorials every year. We feel that at funerals and memorials we are not just playing music, we are part of the Liturgy.
